Running in the great outdoors –
Trail running

(c) Manuel Keser

Trail running is running in the great outdoors and away from paved roads. Sometimes you run along a forest path, sometimes through a forest and over roots and sometimes through rocky terrain to the summit.

In Werfenweng there are numerous opportunities for this!

Feel nature with all your senses

Trail running is first and foremost about running offroad and exploring nature in all its facets and enjoying it with all your senses. You can do this in Werfenweng on numerous different trails and in a wide variety of terrain. Whether on the Eiskogel, the Bischlinghöhe or one of the other peaks – in Werfenweng, every trail runner’s heart beats faster.

Trail running in Werfenweng for beginners and pros

However, there are also a few things you should bear in mind when trail running – in terms of nature, but also in terms of yourself.

  • Know your limits and don’t overdo it! The descent is often underestimated, especially when there are many meters of altitude.
  • Always pay attention to the weather forecast and adapt your equipment accordingly! Don’t forget enough drinking water.
  • Observe the “Nature etiquette for runners”! Stay on the paths and trails, don’t disturb the animals at night and keep your own dog on a lead! The animals in the forest and mountains will thank you for it.

And above all: Enjoy the surroundings and feel nature with all your senses!

Alpin Team Trail

The Alpin Team Trail is taking place in Werfenweng for the third time this year.
With one of the most varied and fascinating routes in Austrian trail running, the Alpin Team Trailrun inspires both professionals and beginners over two distances. The “small” ATT with 23 km and 1,523 m elevation gain is the perfect introduction to trail running, but still has a lot to offer. The K50 pushes even the best to their limits, with 52 km and 3,450 m elevation gain.
